RON SANDERS
'7 NEWS' GENERAL ASSIGNMENT REPORTER

Ron Sanders, an Emmy award-winning reporter for 7 NEWS, joined Channel 7 in September 1979 as a general assignment reporter. Later, he was named the station's South Bureau reporter for the New England News Exchange and worked from the offices of The Patriot Ledger in Quincy.

Previously, Sanders was co-host of "PM Magazine" for WJBK-TV in Detroit. He joined the CBS outlet in 1972 as an assignment editor, and was promoted in 1973 to general assignment reporter.

After covering a variety of major political, criminal and regional stories for the Detroit station, Sanders was named co-anchor in 1977 of WJBK's weekend news broadcasts. He began his broadcast career as a news announcer at WKHM Radio in Jackson, Michigan.

In 1984, Sanders won a Boston/New England Emmy award in the News Reporting category for his story "Klan Rally." In addition, he is the winner of three other regional Emmy awards.

Sanders also has been honored by the Michigan Associated Press Broadcasters, and the Detroit Press Club Foundation.
