Scott Brown, Elizabeth Warren start pouring their millions into Senate ads

Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren are starting to spend the millions they have raised for their US Senate campaign.

Both are out with new TV commercials today amid a quickening rotation of spots airing on Massachusetts stations.

Brown, the Republican incumbent, is airing the third in a series of testimonials from Democrats who say they are backing him because of his bipartisanship.

“We need a person like Scott Brown that’s going to say, ‘I don’t care whose idea it is. I don’t care if it’s left or right, Democrat or Republican. This is a good idea; it’s going to help people that are suffering,’” says former Bristol District Attorney Paul Walsh.

Previous ads in the campaign featured former Boston Mayor Raymond L. Flynn and former Worcester Mayor Konnie Lukes.

Warren’s ad continues a campaign outlining her governing priorities.

“America ought to be investing in education and building a future for our kids, but Washington’s giving billions to big oil and tax breaks to millionaires,” says the Democrat.

Another recent commercial focused on Warren’s belief the US should spend more on infrastructure development.

While Brown and Warren have signed a pact that contains penalties for them if they benefit from third-party ads aired against their opponent, both candidates have plenty to spend on their own.

Their most recent fund-raising reports showed Brown with $15.5 million cash on hand, and Warren with $13.5 million.
