Elizabeth Warren names former campaign staffers to three top jobs

Senator-elect Elizabeth Warren plans to appoint three campaign officials to top positions in her Senate office, according to an official close to Warren.

Mindy Myers, 36, Warren’s campaign manager and a former chief of staff to Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, will become chief of staff to Warren. Dan Geldon, 30, a senior adviser in the campaign, will become deputy chief of staff. Roger Lau, 35, Warren’s campaign political director, will serve as state director, running her Boston office and other Massachusetts offices.

All three staffers have long experience in Democratic politics. Myers also ran campaigns for Whitehouse in 2006 and Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut in 2010. She was also the New Hampshire state director for President Obama’s 2008 campaign. Myers has also held staff jobs for President Clinton, former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle, and for former vice president Al Gore’s presidential campaign in 2000.

Lau has been a long-time aide to US Senator John F. Kerry. He has also worked for former US representative Martin T. Meehan and Representative Richard E. Neal. He has worked in campaigns for Kerry and for US Representatives Michael Capuano and Niki Tsongas.

Geldon worked previously for Warren in Washington as senior adviser at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and as a Warren adviser when Warren chaired the Congressional Oversight Panel for the Troubled Asset Relief Program from 2008-2009. Geldon also ran a House race campaign for Representative John Yarmuth of Kentucky in 2008. He was a student of Warren’s at Harvard Law School.
