Boston City Councilor-at-large Felix G. Arroyo has signed up the Northwind Strategies political consulting firm to run his mayoral campaign.

Northwind, which helped guide both Elizabeth Warren and Deval Patrick to office in their first bids for office, had been courted by several mayoral candidates. The jockeying for the firm’s support became something of a campaign in and of itself, a competition for perhaps the city’s hottest political strategy firm.

“We’re excited about Felix because he grew up in Boston, he understands the city, and he comes from a background of community organizing, and inclusion, and engagement in the political process,” said Northwind founder Doug Rubin.

The company has become a repository of sorts for former Patrick administration officials, which means they will likely be scratching to take votes from one of their former colleagues. Charlotte Golar Richie, who held a senior post under Patrick before moving outside government to helm his political committee, is expected to announce a campaign for mayor.
