Bruins fans still grappling with Boston’s defeat in the Stanley Cup Final are not alone. Today, Governor Deval Patrick flew half-way across the country to fulfill the terms of a wager he lost when the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Bruins in the championship hockey series last month.
Patrick’s bet with Illinois Governor Pat Quinn stipulated that the loser volunteer at the food bank of the winner’s choice. So today, at 2:30 p.m. the Governor of the Commonwealth began working at Greater Chicago Food Depository alongside Quinn.
There, Patrick's staff said, the Bay State’s governor was set to inspect a shipment of pears and pack food for distribution to food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.
Patrick is scheduled to return to Massachusetts on Wednesday morning.
