Former rivals Barros, Arroyo, expected to endorse Walsh in mayoral race
State representative Martin J. Walsh’s mayoral campaign is poised to receive an injection of support on Tuesday from two former rivals, with city councilor Felix G. Arroyo and non-profit executive John Barros expected to endorse the Dorchester lawmaker, a person close to the campaign said.
The twin endorsements would come from former candidates in the Sept. 24 preliminary election. As Walsh and city councilor John R. Connolly duel over the ample swath of largely minority voters who opted for other candidates in the preliminary, support from Arroyo and Barros could help Walsh gain much-needed support.
The person who shared the news said Walsh’s stances on poverty and education appealed to Arroyo, and that Barros was swayed by Walsh’s take on economic development and education.Jim O’Sullivan can be reached at email@example.com. Follow him on Twitter @josreports.
