Coakley hires union official as campaign manager
Attorney General Martha Coakley has hired Tim Foley, political director of SEIU 1199, to manage her gubernatorial campaign, according to senior Democrats.
Foley, a frequent State House presence, hails from beyond the immediate Coakley orbit, an outside voice as Coakley looks to shuffle her roster of advisers. Foley brings a political organizing résumé to the Coakley coterie, which critics derided after her 2010 Senate loss for paying insufficient attention to the state’s Democratic grassroots.
A Duxbury native and Watertown resident, Foley has worked for the state AFL-CIO and the Massachusetts Coalition for Adult Education, a policy advocacy group.Jim O’Sullivan can be reached at Jim.OSullivan@globe.com. Follow him on Twitter at @JOSreports.
