Richard Tisei takes key step toward second challenge of US Rep. John Tierney
Former state Senate minority leader Richard Tisei, who lost to US Representative John Tierney by one point last year, has taken a key step toward a second challenge.
Tisei, a Wakefield Republican, formed an exploratory committee with the Federal Election Commission, a spokesman said Monday.
Tierney, a Salem Democrat, is also facing a primary challenge from Seth Moulton, a military veteran whose fund-raising topped Tierney’s last quarter.
Tisei, who ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor in 2010, said in his announcement that he hoped “to make a formal announcement regarding my plans” later in the fall.
