With nine bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and a four-story tower crowned with a circular reading room, this Victorian house resembles one of those Russian dolls with layer upon layer inside. The lobby has a marble floor and is next to a sitting room with floor-to-ceiling bay windows, a marble fireplace, and a half-bath. The formal living room also has a marble fireplace and leads to another sitting room — with a fireplace and another half-bath. Through a doorway is the formal dining room.

The kitchen has butcher block counters, a prep island, and an exposed brick wall. First-floor ceilings are 10 feet and most floors are wood in various tones. The second-floor master has a bed area snuggled between bay windows and a private bath. Other bedrooms vary in size. Reached through its own narrow stairway, the reading room has 360-degree views of the neighborhood and more during fall and winter. Across the street is Franklin Park. The floors and bathrooms on the second and third floors need updating and freshening. The house sits back from the street, and has a large parking area. The backyard has a platform treehouse.

Listing broker Stephen Lussier of Arborview Realty in Jamaica Plain is holding an open house Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
