When the current owners built this expansive Cape-style home in Weymouth in 1979, they put wood shingling on the roof, wide planked pine and spruce flooring on the first floor, and a large brick fireplace in the kitchen — all to make the new appear antique. Still, ceiling heights are a robust 8 feet and the house has since been expanded to add a large family room with a modern cathedral ceiling. A formal living room is on the opposite wing of the house. The kitchen has custom cabinets, an eating area, and is adjacent to a formal dining room with built-in cabinets.
