Most companies celebrate the completion of office buildings with a buffet lunch and congratulatory speeches from politicians who expound on the importance of private sector job creation.

But EF Education First is partying a little harder at its new Cambridge headquarters this week. The for-profit education company has quietly erected the country’s second largest portable Ferris wheel on property across from the Museum of Science, and it is inviting the public to ride it for free.

The 120-foot Ferris wheel will only be operating for a short time. It will be turning from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday. Food trucks will also congregate on the property, and Lingo Restaurant and Bar will be offering food and drink specials.
