Berkshire Group on Thursday finalized the purchase of a three-acre site in Boston’s Innovation District, where it will lead development of a massive apartment and retail complex.
The Boston-based firm is buying the property across from the John Joseph Moakley US Courthouse for $72 million from MS Boston Seaport LLC, a joint venture of Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing and Boston Global Investors.
Berkshire plans to start construction there in the spring on One Seaport Square, a project that will include a pair of 22-story apartment towers and 260,000 square feet of retail space. The new buildings will contain 832 luxury apartments, restaurants, a movie theater, and stores. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
