The views of White Pond out nearly every window, the private dock jutting into the 43-acre kettle pond, the terraced hillside with cookout area help explains why this home has been in the same family for 46 years. The downside, though, is that much of the house could use refreshing, as some of the interior decor includes drop ceilings and dark paneling, and importantly, the septic system has to be modernized.

But inside are reminders of its terrific perch on beautiful White Pond. The combined living and dining space has views of the forested hillside leading to water’s edge, while the decks as well as several rooms on the lower level also look onto the pond. The large master bedroom comes with private screened deck with pond views and has a wall of built-in closets, cathedral ceiling and natural light from three triangular windows.

The lower level includes a family room, full bath and utility room and is reached by a metal spiral staircase. An addition in the 1980s addition includes a room with a huge pool table and screened-in deck. Outside a long, wide stairwell leads through mature trees to a cookout area, and then down to a set of benches and the 50 feet of waterfront that comes with property.

The lot itself is bisected into two, with a large, two-story garage on the other half. Listing broker Cherie Murra of Acton Real Estate Co. in Acton is holding an open house Sunday from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
