The previous renovation of this old barn was featured by the Boston Sunday Globe a half century ago, when artist Justine Ferris converted the property with views of Pigeon Cove into apartments - one with a large studio and living room with Spanish-style balcony. Later owners then converted it to a single-family home, the studios into a large sunny bedroom. Berrie Bullitt bought it 11 years ago and has since added her personal touch.

"When I first moved in, I was sitting on the living room steps looking up at the balcony and thinking I'd bitten off more than I could chew," she said recently. Bullitt tiled the lower-level bathroom, gutted the kitchen, and made multiple repairs to the outside. She also added a sunroom at the entryway and two bluestone patios. Bullitt's modern touches include the stainless appliances and floors and countertops of tumbled stone.

The home still feels like an antique, with wide knotty-pine floorboards, two Spanish-style fireplaces, and an old pergola constructed from barn boards. The grounds feature a massive Japanese maple, an apple tree, and a wisteria vine that can be seen from many of the home's windows. The ocean view remains, though it is partially blocked by a neighboring home. Listing Broker, Anna Kasabian of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, will hold an open house today from 1 to 3 pm.
