Building decks

Properly built decks have to be constructed to certain specifications. A deck must hold at least 60 pounds per square foot, and needs to be flashed. Flashing is a piece of metal between the deck and the house that protects the joint between the home and the metal from getting wet. If poorly installed, water will get in and cause the wood to rot.
