A brief history of the John Hancock Tower

Boston Properties Inc., a real estate investment trust whose portfolio already includes major properties in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood, said that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the John Hancock Tower and garage for about $930 million. The John Hancock Tower is undoubtedly one of Boston's most iconic buildings. New Yorker critic Paul Goldberger has called the building, which was completed in 1976, 'one of the most beautiful skyscrapers ever built.'
