Appelbaum writes that he and his girlfriend shouldn't have allowed an extra day for a contract to be signed; they should have told the sellers to send the contract immediately or the offer would be withdrawn. They took a firmer approach with the next place they made an offer on, and knew it was theirs only when they received a signed contract.
