Foreclosures in Massachusetts jumped 32 percent last year compared to 2009, with 12,233 foreclosure deeds in the state in 2010. That number was slightly below the state's record of 12,430 foreclosures in 2008.
On a year-over-year basis, some towns and cities fared better than others. What follows is a look at 10 communities that saw the largest percentage increases in foreclosures from 2009 to 2010, as well as 10 communities with the largest percentage decline. Only towns and cities with a minimum of 40 foreclosures in either year were included.
