The master bedroom is painted robin's-egg blue, except for the overhead beam, which is buttery yellow. "We grew to love color," Skandalis says. "Most people are afraid of it, but a friend, a color consultant, introduced us to historical colors like vibrant reds and greens. Color adds such an incredible texture to a room, more so than specific furniture."

The bed is a Tate platform bed from Crate and Barrel, a mid-century knockoff.
