EXTREME RECYCLING Lisa Dorval and David Hall's Newbury house is built in large part with materials salvaged from other buildings and construction projects. The concrete floors are warmed by a solar-powered thermal system. The hearth is a massive boulder, the ceiling is corrugated metal, and the I-beams were recovered from a boat-building shop. David Hall, left, bought the used 16-inch galvanized steel stove pipe at a fraction of the cost of a new one. The couple's son Emmett sits at the kitchen counter with his mother and grandfather, Romeo Dorval.
