The best streets to live in Greater Boston

LOTHROP STREET: Beverly Beverly is a small Gold Coast city with a diverse mix. Boston Brahmins built their summer homes there around the turn of the last century. Around the same time, United Shoe moved in, bringing tens of thousands of immigrant workers. Meanwhile, Endicott College and the Monserrat College of Art, said Margaret Belmonte of RE/Max in Beverly, 'keep us young and hip.' Among the more desirable streets is Lothrop. There's a section almost a mile long, near gorgeous Independence Park, where Colonials and Victorians start at just over $1 million, but also, a little farther from the beach, homes can be had for as little as $329,000.
