HINGHAM - Visitors to this towering contemporary should be handed sunglasses as they enter because sunlight just fills the entryway from skylights and windows two stories above.
The natural light that warms the tiled entry flows throughout the house. To the right of the entry is the living room, pale blue in color, with a working fireplace faced with gray and white bricks. Left of the entry is the spacious dining room, also pale blue. Off the dining room is the very comfortable first-floor master suite with full bath.
Beyond the dining room is the sunlit and yellow painted kitchen, which has great counter space but lacks a good size sit-down space. A comfy deck and a patio are accessed from the kitchen. Adjoining it is the solarium, complete with built-in planter box, Italian tile flooring, and doors to the backyard.
A major attraction on the first floor is a giant family room with a cathedral ceiling, a large fireplace in mostly red brick, and a deck. A small room, now used as an office, could serve as a bedroom.
The second floor has two good size bedrooms, a small deck with a nice view, and the other master suite with a large bedroom, a dressing area, a walk-in closet, and a blue-toned bathroom with whirlpool and separate shower. The second floor has shiny, hardwood floors and a full bath.
The septic is out front so the backyard - nicely lined with a privacy screen of trees - is ready for family sports or a pool. The house is at the end of a 600-foot driveway and the 1-acre lot abuts town conservation land.
The basement is not finished, but is dry. The home has central air and a mixture of heating sources, including propane and oil.
Broker Sheila Creahan of William Raveis Real Estate in Hingham is planning an open house today from 1 to 3 p.m.
