Menino's new neighbors
Let's see, if I moved next to Mayor Menino, I would ...
Today's Globe story about the Hyde Park house next door to Hizzoner coming up for sale drew a few truly comic responses from readers on the boston.com message boards.
"I would like to buy the property and then begin the permitting process to replace the house with a seventy-story building with concierge service, valet parking, and don't forget the blasting to dig out a multi-level underground garage," a reader named Ferial wrote in. "The mayor of Boston deserves no less."
Another snarky gem from dougzinboston: "You may have the security and plowed streets but everyone knows the downside to living next to the mayor: You are forced to be the nicest neighbor or he will hold a grudge against you until the day he dies. Too many people and stories of angering the Mayor forever ago and he never forgives or forgets. Once you cross him, forget the security and you'll wait until April to get the area in front of your house plowed.
See more comments here, but be forewarned: other critics aren't nearly so polite (or well-spoken) as the above, and you'll have to put up with an annoying tangent about pit bulls (you'll see).
