Instant neighborhood in Chelsea

Posted by Kimberly Blanton November 13, 2007 10:58 AM

Chelsea Neighborhood Developers, a non-profit housing organization, said all 41 apartments are rented in the Janus Highlands Apartments, part of a new Chelsea housing development called the Box District.

More than 300 residences are slated for the area, which is going up around a former industrial site where a paper and box factory once stood. The project is being developed by the Chelsea Neighborhood Developers and the city.

A separate development of townhouses, Box Works Homes, is near completion. Just one of the 12 units for sale is under agreement currently. These market-rate units are being listed in the $250,000 to $350,000 range.

There was a groundbreaking last week for Atlas Lofts -- 53 apartments being built in the former box factory. Atlas Lofts is being developed by Mitchell Properties, which is partnering with the Chelsea housing agency.
