Jamaica Plain mortgage event

Posted by Kimberly Blanton November 19, 2007 10:10 AM

At a time of strong distrust of the mortgage industry, the city of Boston's low-key efforts to educate future homebuyers continue.

Today, the city's Department of Neighborhood Development is sponsoring a homebuyer program between 5pm and 7pm. Bank lenders will be available to talk to prospective borrowers at the Jamaica Plain Library on Center Street.

"Ten different mortgage lenders available," ranging from Bank of America Corp. to community banks such as Hyde Park Cooperative Bank, the city's flyer says.

There will also be information about homebuyer courses, lead paint assistance, and government programs to help working people buy a home.
