Boston real estate Web sites

Posted by Binyamin Appelbaum January 25, 2008 11:26 AM

We here at Boston Real Estate Now are big believers in the importance of competition and diversity. And in that spirit, we wanted to mention a pair of Web sites that caught our attention recently.

And to encourage all of you to submit your favorite sites about Boston real estate. That's right: In responses to this blog, we won't erase relevant URLs.

One of our regular posters brought to our attention, on his own Web site, an up-to-date and graphically pleasing presentation of data on local real estate markets.

We also heard this week about a new Boston real estate blog being launched by online real estate brokerage Redfin.com.

So tell us: Where do you turn for information and conversation about local real estate?

  1. Though I have a great buyers agent working for me (Rona, who writes for BG too), I liked to use Redfin to get a better understanding what is out there and where it is all located. Redfin also discloses the commission rates and previous sales info. Something a buyer should always know.

  1. Trulia Voices (www.trulia.com/voices) has a good message board style interface as well as maps of available property. It doesn't have every property on the market but a good snapshot.

    Local real estate blogs are:

The Boston Real Estate Blog (bostonreb.com)
The Boston Condo & Luxury Real Estate Blog (boston.condodomain.com/blog)
The Brookline Real Estate Blog (brooklinerealestate.blogspot.com)

  1. BostonBubble.com has hands down the best overall coverage of the local real estate market.

The Realtor sites are like reading fiction or a poorly written fantasy novel...

Visit BostonBubble.com for a dose of reality.

  1. When I am not research and writing for my MassHomeBuyerGuide.com blog, I like to read the Boston Condos Blog.

For a good laugh, I like CT real agent Athol Kay's Bad MLS Photo of the Day blog.

The Inman News Blog is packed with real estate industry information.

  1. Check out Territory Real Estate at www.TerritoryRE.com. They are an exclusive buyer brokerage that provides salaried agents (not commissioned salespeople) at a flat-fee price. Definitely worth a look if you are in the market.

  1. CondoDomain.com has really stepped up to the plate with a brand new web 2.0 interface. The site has every MLS listing, new developments, lofts, and more. Local comments, Blog Post..it goes on. Truly I just found this site and its one of the best real estate search sites I have seen.

    http://Boston.CondoDomain.com is the Boston site.

  1. Hi, I'm going to plug a site that I am affiliated with. It's Terabitz.com which is a great place if you would like a large breadth of information on a particular real estate listing or town. The web site address is:

    www.jonathanbowenrealestate.com

    Take care, Jon

  1. Boston.com is actually my pick, definitely #1 right now from what I've seen. The free search on Boston City Properties & Bushari is good but Boston.com is pretty impossible to beat . Trulia seems to be getting big but to be honest i really I cant stand them

    My Picks:

    1) Boston.com (tons of info)

    2) BostonCityProperties.com (free condo alerts)

    3) Bushari.com (tons of good info, huge website, nice pics)

    4) Boston Business Journal (tons of local real estate news)

    5) The Condo Blog (seems to be update frequently)

    6) Boston Lofts... although there are tons of these sites now
