Capping a week that began with President’s Day, check out this gallery of pictures of presidential houses, assembled by The Real Estate Bloggers. There is a home pictured for each president, but just like ordinary folks, most presidents lived in multiple places. The choice of Jefferson’s Monticello is easy. Other choices seem less representative, such as showing the vacation compounds of John F. Kennedy and George H.W. Bush.
Still, it's fascinating to see the march of styles from country estates to Georgian boxes to Victorian frippery. It's also a quick way to judge the economic circumstances of our presidents, who mostly die rich but, as the pictures show, have occupied all points on the economic spectrum.
Pictured is Harry Truman's home in Independence, Missouri.
