I got an email from Cindy Baggish. It’s not my first one, either. Cindy is looking to make someone in the Greater Boston area a star on the 8th Season of My First Place. For those not familiar with the HGTV's series, it follows first-time homebuyers through the process of buying their, ah, first home. Here’s the pitch:

My First Place, HGTV’s hit series, is coming back for an eighth season and we’re looking for first-time homebuyers (and their agents!) in the Greater Boston area right now! We are looking for fun, high-energy people who are just starting the home-buying process for their first place and would like to share their story with HGTV! Our goal is to capture all the trials and tribulations of looking for, bidding on and buying your first place. Taping takes place this spring and summer. Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic buyers with a great story to tell and a desire to share their experiences. Singles, couples and families are all invited to apply! Candidates (including realtors)[sic] who complete taping of a My First Place episode will receive a DVD copy of their show so that they can relive their first-time home buying experience for years to come! Request an application by emailing: cbaggish@highnoontv.com Or call Cindy Baggish at (303) 712-3093

Weeks ago, I got a notice from Cindy through the Massachusetts Association of Buyer’s Agents. Since I was born without a gene for shyness, being on TV was an easy thing to contemplate. The agent in me was into it. I went so far as to ask my first-timers if they were game. None were. Then a calmer voice prevailed: I’m too busy for this, and my clients aren’t into it. I would have to be talked into it now.

This week, Cindy found me again. This time I was wearing the blogger hat. The blogger in me wonders about totally different things: What is the quality of the first-timer’s experience? Would you want yours captured on video? If you already bought, what would have been in your video? What are the qualities of those who sign up to do this kind of show? Are they mega-extroverts like me? Do they have pretensions toward the stage or screen?

The show often ends with the buyers walking into their newly-bought house and seeing the gift that HGTV has left for them. They then give their advice to first-time homebuyers. What would your advice be?
