No need to wait for the spring home sales numbers to come out. Let's get a jump with our own, informal market survey.

Do you plan to buy this spring and if so, where and for what price?

If you already own a home, do you plan on selling and if so, why?

And if you plan to sit things out, why, and for how long?

We all know the double dip in prices is here, though more so for some towns than for others. Check out my post yesterday on the big difference in home prices along 128 compared to 495.

So there are both opportunities and risks to buying now. Depending on where you are looking, you might be able to land a house that was out of your price range just a few years ago.

Then again, the home you just bought could wind up dropping in value by 10 percent or more over the next year.

Add to that rising mortgage rates and you have lots of reasons pro and con on whether to buy now or sit tight.

Agents and contractors, feel free to jump in as well - the more the merrier in this discussion.

I will highlight the best responses early next week after everyone has had a chance to weigh in.

Feel free to vote early and often - I will count the ballots.
