Steve, our brave seller from Lowell who shared his frustrations with the current market, must be having some second thoughts right now.

Apparently he made the fatal mistake of having bought his now eight-year-old colonial in Lowell during the home price bubble. And, according to some folks who comment on this blog, that was an unforgivable error in judgment.

I'll leave names - or to be more accurate pseudonyms - out of this.

Still, it's worth taking a look at this barb thrown out by one of the regulars on the comment boards of this blog.

Steve,

It's hard for me to have any sympathy for folks who bought during the bubble years. You should have continued to rent and save, and ignore all the shills that convinced you to buy.

As far as having a hard time selling is concerned, it's like another poster pointed out, there are places where few buyers want to buy, and Lowell is one of those places.

For those who avoided buying a house during the past decade, well bully for you.

But castigating the millions of people across the country who bought homes during the past decade? Really, this is a bit perverse.

It's sort of like scolding those who got laid off during the recession for losing their jobs. After all, the economy is cyclical - they should have seen it coming!
