Looking for that classic, four-bedroom suburban home in Greater Boston? Well get ready to pony up some serious cash!

There are now 51 towns in Massachusetts, almost all within the 495 belt, where you will need to fork over at least $500,000, and likely much more, to snag that basic suburban package, according to a survey of listing prices by Coldwell Banker.

It is a list that starts at the bottom with Watertown, No. 51, with an average listing prices of just over $502,000, and spirals upward to Weston, which, with an average listing price of $1.7 million, tops the state.

The top ten are the usual suspects, including Wellesley ($966,000), Lexington ($878,000), Hingham ($844,000) and Winchester ($773,000).

But what's more interesting is the number of nice but hardly posh suburbs on this top 50 list.
Walpole weighs in at a staggering $646,000, Canton is pushing $600,000 and Danvers is coming up fast at $570,000.

Dedham and Natick, for years havens for first-time buyers, are hardly very affordable anymore, weighing in at $570,000 and $553,000 respectively.

Even Woburn is pushing half a million - at No.54, the average listing price for a four bedroom two bath home is $496,530.

What's your take? Would you pay $646,000 to snag a house in Walpole or nearly half a million for a place to call your own in Woburn?
