Would you pay $2,000 a square foot for a condo? Really is anything worth $2,000 a square foot?
Apparently the owner in waiting of unit 30E atop the new Clarendon thinks so, having put the unit under contract last month.
While the final price won't be out until the closing, the four-bedroom, three and a half bath condo was listed at $4,175,000, or $2,132 a square foot.
OK, I can remember writing about luxury condo developers in the late 1990s shooting for the $1,000 a square foot mark in the Back Bay. Really, it was a big deal then. Now that number is commonplace.
To put it into context, $2,000 a square foot is about eight to ten times what decent new suburban construction costs.
I am sure the views are great, but that's really outrageous.
