Is that Southie studio really worth $2,279?

No, that's not the top price for a studio at Boston's newest luxury high-rise.

Rather, $2,279 is the starting price for a studio at 315 on A, which opened its doors a few months ago in the Fort Point section of the South Boston Seaport

Here's a Boston Business Journal piece that offers a rundown on the rather lofty prices at new, 202-unit, deluxe apartment address on A Street.

Once home to half abandoned, Victorian-era brick and granite warehouses occupied by struggling artists, Fort Point, along with much of the Seaport, is being remade into a hot spot for the young and rich with an appreciation for the finer things in life.

Still, even if you have that kind of cash, nearly $2,300 for measly little studio seems like a lot.

Not sure how much space that gets you in one of the studios at 315 on A, but it has to be significantly less than the 731 square foot, $3,800 one-bedroom highlighted in the BBJ piece.

OK, I guess it's all where you are coming from. My first apartment was a $300 studio in Haverhill - the height, I must say, of fashionable living. But then again, it worked for me and it's what I could afford at my first reporting job back in the early 1990s at the now largely defunct Haverhill Gazette.

Still, I got a kick out of the ad copy on the 315 on A website.

"Chef-quality meets everyday routine" is the writeup on the kitchen - yes, that's what the young and footloose bachelor needs these days.

"Polished to perfection,"  the heading over the photo of the deluxe bathroom, was another winner.

And last but not least, "Your home is your haven."

Well, at $2,279 for a studio, it sure better be!
