Expect state-of-the-art refrigerators, dishwashers, and clothes washer/dryers. Appliances typically account for about 20 percent of a household's total energy use.
Refrigerators with the Energy Star logo use up to 40 percent less energy
than regular models sold since 2001. Modern clothes washers use 55 percent less water and up to 50 percent less electricity. They also work without agitators and remove moisture more effectively.
