From February 6 through May 29, The Charles Hotel will host a four-month long jazz festival to celebrate the beginning of the twentieth year of jazz in its award-winning Regattabar. Once again, the Festival will be augmented by Water Music/Mainstage's major concerts. This year's Festival is presented by Volvo, co-sponsored by Alpha Omega Jewelers and Tanqueray, in association with Boston magazine, Boston.com, and Water Music. Regattabar Enters Its 20th Year On January 29, 1985 the Regattabar opened, and in the following years it became the leading jazz club not only of the city but the region. In 1998, after winning the designation of Best Jazz Club nine times, it was placed in Boston magazine's Hall of Fame in its Best of Boston issue. It was also named Best Jazz Club by The Boston Phoenix in 1999 and by The Improper Bostonian in 2003. Water Music/Mainstage Concerts Water Music began producing concerts in 1971 and in 1985 came to The Charles Hotel to develop the jazz program for the Regattabar.
