Drafted by the Sox in '67, Fisk, who hails from Charlestown, N.H., won the AL Rookie of the Year award in 1972 and was a Fenway favorite through 1980, when a contract snafu resulted in his signing with the Chicago White Sox. In this Aug. 1, 1973, photo, Fisk and Yankees nemesis Thurman Munson collided, then fought, at home plate. The defining moment of Fisk's career in Boston came in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds. He hit a 12th-inning home run off the left field foul pole at Fenway Park to win the game. There would be no such heroics for Boston in Game 7.
