UFC president Dana White has strong ties to Boston, and the news of the bombings at the Boston Marathon troubled him deeply.

“From a guy who’s walked those streets and been there at the finish line so many times, it really freaked me out,” said White. “It still freaks me out. I have a hard time talking about it.”

White paid a visit to Boston after a UFC card in Newark April 27 and made donations to help the victims. He originally hoped to visit some of them in person but decided that this was not the right time.

White will bring UFC to TD Garden in August in what he says will be the best free television card he has ever done.
