Maple Leafs even score

Mats Sundin responded when the Toronto Maple Leafs needed their captain most.

Sundin scored twice, including the game-winner, and sparked the Maple Leafs to a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 4 last night in Toronto, evening their second-round playoff series.

Darcy Tucker also scored and Gary Roberts had two assists for Toronto, which bounced back after losing the first two games in Philadelphia. Toronto goaltender Ed Belfour stopped 28 shots to record his 88th career playoff victory, moving him into a tie for third place with former New York Islanders great Billy Smith.. . .
The Detroit Red Wings were tired of hearing how they'd been outworked and outplayed by the Calgary Flames.

The Red Wings rolled up their sleeves, and got some help from their blue-collar players in a 4-2 victory Thursday night in Calgary to even the Western Conference series at 2-2.

Defenseman Mathieu Dandenault, who snapped a 2-2 tie with the winning goal at 10:02 of the third period, said Detroit had something to prove.

"There was a lot of hype going around in this building," said Dandenault. "The motivation comes playing our best hockey game and we know we haven't done that.
