Rey de Cafe passed Dubleo in the stretch and won the $112,200 Bourbon County Stakes at Keeneland in Lexington, Ky, yesterday.
Ridden by Craig Perret, Red de Cafe won for the second time in five starts, covering the 1 1/16ths miles on the turf in 1:42.90. The chestnut son of Kingmambo paid $8, $4, and $3.
Dubleo was a neck behind in the race for the 2-year-olds and paid $3.40 and $3. Ready Ruler was 4 1/2 lengths back in third and paid $4.80.
Rey de Cafe, trained by Rusty Arnold, earned $69,564 for owner G. Watts Humphrey Jr.
At New York's Aqueduct Race Track, Pop Princess won the $52,000 allowance-claiming feature, beating Childress by a neck for her second straight victory.
Pop Princess was the favorite in the field of five. She carried co-highweight of 124 and Eibar Coa a mile in 1:35 3/5 to earn $31,200 for Stronach Stables and return $4.40, $2.70, and $2.10.
