Pedro Martinez introduced a line of salsa in 1999, saying his goal was to raise $1 million for his charitable foundation. The pitcher has since maintained an average balance greater than $850,000 in his Boston-based foundation and has made only one grant: $5,000 last year to the Riverview School in East Sandwich.
