The Boston Globe
Joe Thornton of the Bruins made more than $11 million in his first four seasons with the Bruins before he signed a three-year deal in August worth $20 million, but has given little back to the community. ''Now that [Thornton] will be staying in Boston, we have spoken about a formalized approach to charity in and around Boston,' said his agent, J.P. Barry, by email. ''As you can understand, he has not been in the city for over a year due to the lockout. He has finally purchased a residence in Boston and we will be approaching this issue.'
