Joshua Gros and Christian Gomez each scored his first goal of the season last night to lead D.C. United to a 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo.
United (2-0-1), which played their first three matches at home and are off to their best start since 1999, scored both goals on set pieces.
Gros put in a rebound after Jaime Moreno one-timed Gomez's free kick off Houston goalkeeper Pat Onstad in the 25th minute. Gomez scored in the 71st minute when his 25-yard shot from another free kick deflected off the top of Houston's defensive wall and past Onstad.
Houston (1-2-0) lost its second straight without suspended forward Dwayne De Rosario (red card).
Real Salt Lake 1, Red Bulls 1 -- Jason Kreis scored in the 89th minute to lift Real Salt Lake to a tie with visiting New York, the Red Bulls' third straight tie to open the season.
Kreis scored on a header that caromed off the post and went behind Red Bulls goalkeeper Tony Meola. Salt Lake (0-2-1) extended its winless streak to 15 games.
Fire 1, Crew 1 -- Chris Rolfe scored for Chicago and Sebastian Rozental converted a penalty kick for host Columbus.
The Fire (0-1-2) and Crew (0-2-1) both were seeking their first wins of the year.
Rapids 2, FC Dallas 2 -- Clarence Goodson knocked the ball into his own goal 3 minutes into second-half stoppage time to help visiting Colorado salvage a tie.
