Huskies drubbed in A-10 opener

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Alvin Banks ran for three touchdowns and caught one of three scoring passes from Justin Rascati last night as James Madison scored the first 52 points in a 52-14 victory over Northeastern.

The Dukes (2-1, 1-0 Atlantic 10) started quickly, getting a 74-yard scoring run from Eugene Holloman just 1:08 into the game. Rascati made it 14-0 midway through the quarter with a 71-yard scoring pass to L.C. Baker, one of two TD catches for the wide receiver.

Northeastern (1-3, 0-1) was outgained, 559-227. The Huskies avoided a shutout when Alex Broomfield (105 yards rushing) broke off a 69-yard scoring run with 11:16 remaining. Anthony Orio added a 17-yard touchdown pass to Kendrick Ballyntyne with 5:32 to play.

Banks scored on runs of 2, 1, and 1 yard, and caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Rascati, who finished 12 of 16 for 212 yards. Baker caught seven passes for 134 yards.
