Pat Lucey threw for 368 yards and three touchdowns to lead Williams to a 37-7 victory over host Amherst yesterday, wrapping up an 8-0 season and the NESCAC title.
Two of Lucey's touchdown passes were to Brendan Fulmer, who started Williams's scoring with a 74-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter.
Lucey completed 17 of 22 passes, while Fulmer finished with five catches for 205 yards. Fulmer also completed 2 of 3 passes for 18 yards.
Brian Morrissey led Williams with 84 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
Trinity 41, Wesleyan 0 -- Eric McGrath passed for 262 yards and two touchdowns and Gennaro Leo ran for one score and passed for another as the Bantams (7-1) routed the host Cardinals (3-5) to wrap up the season with a six-game winning streak.
Leo led a balanced attack with 82 of the Bantams' 173 yards rushing. He also had five receptions for 61 yards and hooked up with McGrath on a 6-yard scoring pass after faking a sweep.
Bowdoin 13, Colby 10 -- Jeff Smith gained 99 yards, including the winning 2-yard run with less than five minutes remaining, to lead the Polar Bears (2-6) over the host White Mules for their first CBB Championship title since 1998.
The Polar Bears' win denied Colby (2-6) its fourth straight CBB Championship in the annual rivalry between Colby, Bates, and Bowdoin.
Middlebury 10, Tufts 0 -- Evan Beilin caught a 77-yard scoring pass from Tiger Lyon in the second quarter and the Panthers (6-2) shut down the visiting Jumbos (4-4).
Bates 20, Hamilton 6 -- Brandon Colon threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns to lead the host Bobcats (1-7) past the Continentals (2-6), giving Bates its first win in its season finale.
Curry (11-0) held on in the second half as Coast Guard (8-2) came from 20 points down at halftime to within an onside kick of one final shot at the end zone.
In addition to Jordan, the title game MVP honoree for the second straight season, Steve DiFabio added 113 yards on 23 carries. Ryan Van De Giesen completed only eight passes, but three went for TDs of 38 and 49 yards to Brian Taylor and 12 yards to Jon Sughrue. Niles Pierson was 25 of 40 for 346 yards and three touchdowns for Coast Guard (8-2).
Bryant (8-2), which set a school record for wins in a season, scored 35 points in the first quarter before pulling its starters. The Bulldogs will learn today if they have earned a berth in the Division 2 playoffs.
Bentley 14, AIC 10 -- John White threw two TD passes to Todd Norley and the Falcons (6-5, 4-5) rallied to edge the visiting Yellow Jackets (6-4, 6-3) and earn their 27th winning season in the past 29 years.
Hernandez led Connecticut (4-5, 1-3) back from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit, rushing for 130 yards and passing for 164 yards and four touchdowns. Freshman Donald Brown carried the ball 43 times for 205 yards, including a 10-yard run in the second OT that cut Pittsburgh's lead to 45-44.
UNH 63, Rhode Island 21 -- Quarterback Ricky Santos ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more, leading the visiting Wildcats to a rout of the Rams that kept their 1-AA playoff hopes alive.
UNH, now 7-3 overall and 4-3 in the Atlantic 10, must win at Maine Saturday in order to have a good chance of getting an at-large bid to the playoffs. Rhode Island fell to 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the conference.
Santos finished with 271 passing yards and also ran for 132 yards on 12 carries.
Colgate 29, Holy Cross 28 -- Mike Saraceno threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another to rally the host Red Raiders past the Crusaders.
Holy Cross (7-4, 4-2 Patriot) was paced by Dominic Randolph's 268 passing yards and two touchdowns. Colgate (4-6, 3-2) has won six straight over Holy Cross and this one eliminated the Crusaders from contention for the league championship.
Central Conn. 35, Stony Brook 32 -- Justise Hairston rushed 31 times for 217 yards and three TDs, giving him a school-record 20 touchdowns on the season, as the Blue Devils (8-3) completed their season with a win over the Seawolves in New Britain, Conn.
Mount Ida 27, SUNY Maritime 21 -- Kyle Watkins had eight receptions for 229 yards, including a school-record 72-yard TD, to lead the host Mustangs (5-4) to their second winning season in their eight-year history.
St. Lawrence 31, WPI 7 -- Matt Bezio threw for three touchdowns as the visiting Saints rolled past the Engineers (3-6, 0-6 Liberty).
Montclair St. 27, Western Conn. 22 -- Ryan McCoach rushed for 172 yards, lifting the visiting Red Hawks (7-3, 5-2 NJAC) past the Colonials (5-5, 2-5).![]()
