Va. Tech trips up Deacons

Sean Glennon threw two touchdown passes and Xavier Adibi had a 35-yard fumble return for a touchdown to lead No. 19 Virginia Tech past No. 14 Wake Forest, 27-6, last night in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Eddie Royal and Josh Morgan each had long touchdown catches for the Hokies (9-2, 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), who have won five straight games.

Riley Skinner threw for 195 yards to lead the Demon Deacons (9-2, 5-2), who can still clinch the Atlantic Division title by winning at No. 21 Maryland Saturday.

Georgia Tech 49, Duke 21 -- Reggie Ball passed for three touchdowns -- all in the second quarter -- and the No. 18 Yellow Jackets (9-2, 7-1) routed the Blue Devils (0-11, 0-7) in Atlanta.

Georgia Tech has already clinched the Coastal Division title.

Virginia 17, Miami 7 -- Jameel Sewell ran for two scores and the host Cavaliers (5-6, 4-3) kept alive their hopes of qualifying for a bowl game by sending the Hurricanes (5-6, 2-5) to their fourth straight loss.

Florida St. 28, W. Michigan 20 -- Xavier Lee tossed two touchdown passes to Greg Carr, Lawrence Timmons scored on a 22-yard interception return, and the host Seminoles (6-5) became bowl eligible for the 24th straight season.

N. Carolina 23, N.C. State 9 -- Ronnie McGill rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown and the Tar Heels (2-9, 1-6) forced three fourth-quarter turnovers by the Wolfpack (3-8, 3-6) to give coach John Bunting a win in his final home game.
