The Atlanta Hawks acquired veteran point guard Mike Bibby from the Sacramento Kings yesterday. The Hawks sent starting point guard Anthony Johnson, 2006 first-round pick Shelden Williams, backup point guard Tyronn Lue, veteran forward Lorenzen Wright, and a 2008 second-round pick to the Kings. The trade is pending league approval and physicals. A Hawks spokesman said Bibby is expected to join the team in Los Angeles tomorrow, where he will have his physical. The Hawks play at the Lakers Tuesday night. Bibby, a 10-year veteran, missed the start of the season with a thumb injury but is averaging 13.5 points and five assists in 15 games.Tennis
Henin, Knapp advance to Diamond final
Top-ranked Justine Henin reached the final of the Diamond Games in Antwerp, Belgium, rallying to beat Swiss qualifier Timea Bacsinszky, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Henin will play 20-year-old Karin Knapp of Italy, who beat Na Li of China, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), to reach the first major final of her career . . . Mario Ancic of Croatia defeated Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, 6-4, 6-2, in Marseille to gain the Open 13 final against Andy Murray of Britain. Teen qualifier Kei Nishikori reached his first ATP final by beating third-seeded Sam Querrey, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (9-7), at the International Championships in Delray Beach, Fla. Top-seeded Carlos Moya of Spain advanced to the Brazil Open final in Costa do Sauipe, surviving a late challenge to beat Ecuador's Nicolas Lapentti, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), in the clay-court tournament. A rare loss in 500 for Wotherspoon
Joji Kato handed Jeremy Wotherspoon his first defeat this season at 500 meters in World Cup speedskating in Inzell, Germany. American Shani Davis won the 1,000 in 1 minute 10.58 seconds, ahead of Denny Morrison of Canada (1:11.03). Davis leads the season standings with 590 points to Morrison's 536. Kato, the former world record-holder, was timed in 35.48 seconds in poor weather to beat Wotherspoon's 35.61, snapping the Canadian's streak of six World Cup wins this season. South Korean Lee Kang-seok, who skipped the race, stayed first in the overall standings with 712 points to Wotherspoon's 680 . . . Petter Tande of Norway won a World Cup Nordic combined event in Liberec, Czech Republic, for his second victory of the season. Revolution top Bermuda nationals
Abdoulie Ken Mansally scored three goals as the Revolution took a 6-1 win over the Bermuda national team in their preseason opener in Hamilton, Ontario. Adam Cristman, Amaechi Igwe, and Spencer Wadsworth also scored for the Revolution. Flanagan wins US Cross Country title
Olympic hopefuls Shalane Flanagan of Marblehead and Dathan Ritzenhein won the USA Cross Country Championships at Mission Bay Park in San Diego. Flanagan, 26, a 2004 Olympian in the 5,000 and American record-holder in the 3,000 and 5,000, took the lead at the outset of the 8K women's open race and finished in 25:26, more than a minute ahead of second-place Renee Metiver of Boulder, Colo. (26:36). Ritzenhein, 25, a 2004 Olympian in the 10,000 and runner-up in the 2008 US Olympic marathon trials, took the lead at the halfway mark of the 12-kilometer race and cruised to victory in the men's open division in 35:03 . . . Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia set a world record for the indoor 2 miles at Birmingham, England, finishing in 8:04.35 at the Norwich Union Grand Prix, taking 0.34 off the mark of 8:04.69 that Haile Gebrselassie set in 2003 . . . Nikolai Valuev earned a shot at the World Boxing Association heavyweight title, beating Sergei Liakhovich in a one-sided decision between former champions in Nuremberg, Germany.
