Lorena Ochoa moved into position for her second straight Safeway International victory and second win in three starts this year, shooting a 4-under-par 68 yesterday to take a one-shot lead at 16 under after three rounds at Superstition Mountain, Ariz.

Angela Stanford followed bogeys on 13 and 14 with two finishing birdies for a 70. She is tied for second with Jee Young Lee, who fired her third straight 67.

The six players within six shots of Ochoa have a combined four LPGA Tour victories. The closest rival with similar experience is Annika Sorenstam, seven strokes back after a 71.

PGA - Woody Austin, Nicholas Thompson, Peter Lonard, and Briny Baird led the Zurich Classic at 8 under when rain, lightning, and thunder forced the suspension of third-round play in Avondale, La.

Play was stopped at 1:48 p.m., then called off for the day at 5:35 with 46 players unable to complete the round.

Champions - Bernhard Langer birdied his first two holes, then avoided the mistakes that plagued his closest rivals in the Ginn Championship at Palm Coast, Fla. He shot a 6-under 66 to reach 11-under 133 and move two strokes ahead of career club pro Lonnie Nielsen (69).

European - At Puerto Banus, Spain, defending champion Lee Westwood shot a 6-under 66 to take a one-shot lead over three players after the third round at the Andalucia Open.
