Landon Donovan scored three times and had an assist to run his league-leading total to eight goals in five games, and the Los Angeles Galaxy beat Chivas USA, 5-2, last night in Carson, Calif.

The Galaxy's Alan Gordon added a pair of goals, his first snapping a 2-2 tie in the 76th minute. Donovan gave Los Angeles a two-goal pad a minute later with his third score of the game.

Gordon scored again in the 84th, tapping the ball in after David Beckham and Donovan set up the goal with pinpoint passes.

The contest matched the co-tenant Galaxy (2-2-1) and Chivas USA (1-3-1), who share Carson stadium.

Donovan's other goals came in the 18th and 59th minutes. The three-goal game was the second of his MLS career and first for Los Angeles.

D.C. United 4, Real Salt Lake 1 - Jaime Moreno scored on two penalty kicks and had two assists as host D.C. United rolled.

Toronto FC 2, Wizards 0 - Amado Guevara scored twice to give host Toronto FC a franchise-record third straight win. Toronto, which won six of 30 games last year, improved to 3-2-0 and went above .500 for the first time.

Crew 1, Dynamo 0 - Alejandro Moreno scored in the 22d minute after goalkeeper Pat Onstad knocked a shot into his path and Columbus remained unbeaten at home this season.
