Yankees reliever Kyle Farnsworth attended his appeal hearing to reduce a three-game suspension for throwing a fastball behind the neck of Manny Ramírez last month. Farnsworth insists it wasn't intentional.

The Blue Jays lost shortstops David Eckstein and John McDonald to injuries. Eckstein left in the fifth with a sore right hip and McDonald sprained his ankle in the sixth.

The Rays' Carlos Peña went 0 for 4 with four strikeouts.

The Yankees fell to 15-1 when leading after seven innings this season.
