The Flyers weren't about to let up.
Though it trailed, 2-0, in the second half, the Framingham boys' soccer team kept making plays.
Aggressive to the finish, the Flyers' trademark persistence paid off, and Framingham rallied for a 2-2 tie at Weymouth.
In its first match since last year's Division 1 semifinals, highly motivated Weymouth took the lead on Ryan Bradford's goal in the sixth minute.
The lead buoyed the Wildcats, who dominated the first half with their quickness up front and overall gritty play.
Weymouth sophomore Robbie Lynch displayed his versatility, playing three positions, contributing offensively and defensively, and energetically maneuvering past Framingham's backs.
"We like to move him around to give teams different looks," said coach Bill McEachern.
"And we just want to keep him as involved as possible."
Lynch blocked several shots, three in a span of five minutes, and assisted on the second Weymouth goal.
But Framingham responded with two goals off the foot of Jon Silva, who capitalized on a couple of late-game mistakes by the Wildcats.
McEachern said the constant pressure exerted by the Flyers brought back memories.
"The scariest part about [Framingham] is their ability to play one-on-one soccer with any player on the field," he said.
Added Lynch, "We just got caught off guard at the end. We had a couple of mind lapses, stopped thinking for a minute, and they capitalized."
In this tense struggle, it was essential for every player to remain focused.
According to the Wildcats, a few slip-ups were costly and led to the disappointing result.
They'll have another shot at the Flyers Oct. 3.
